UK Financial Advisors Offer Green Investments

Green Investments are becoming easier to find as reported in a recent survey by the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA). So much so that the majority of financial advisors in the UK now offer advice specifically target to those investors that ask for green or socially reponsible investments. This is a improvement on on a similar position just 2 years ago. However more information on what is available would be welcome.

In view of the interest the National Ethical Investment Week is due for 7 to 13 November and it is hoped this will spread the word and help people choose from over 100 avaialble investment funds available already in this sector. More and more investors are taking the time to be selective over just what they invest in especially the green energy sector is likely to take the lions share of such investing.

Large Transmission Contracts Awarded For Collection of UK Offshore Wind Energy

Ofgem, the UK energy regulator. Have named three preferred bidders to operate Electricity Transmission Links for connection of offshore Wind Farms to up to 2 million homes. The contracts will allow connection of up to 2 GW of power and are worth £700 million to the successful bidders, Balfour Beatty Capital Ltd, Macquarie Capital Group Ltd and Transmission Capital Partners.

The offshore wind farms are located in The east coast Thames Estuary, the Irish Sea off west coast Cumbria and Sheringham Shoal, off the East Coast near Norfolk. Seven of the proposed nine links have been assigned with just two more to be decided in the future.

Committee for Climate Change - Meeting Carbon Budgets

The UK Committee for Climate Change (CCC) was set up in 2008 as an an independent body to advise the UK Government on emissions targets, and to report to Parliament on progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It operates under legislation provided by the Climate Change Act 2008.

Today it has published its 2nd progress report: Meeting carbon budgets – ensuring a low-carbon recovery – 30 June 2010
