When it comes to energy resources you would not think Russia to be short on traditional oil and gas but even Russia are planning a shift to both Wind and Solar energy. However much oil, gas coal a country has the facts are that they will not last forever. Consider also the value of such resources when things get scarce. The value of these precious natural resources is set to sky rocket as the peak supply is reached and sources dry up. So holding on to your own supply is a shrewd move.
Evidently this is born out by a move announced on Russian news agency ,RIA Novosti. It reports that the country is planning to invest $200 million on a large wind power generator near Yeisk in southern Krasnodar Territory. The wind power plant aims to generate 50 to 100MW per year.
Russia's first solar plant set to be built in the North Caucasus resort city of Kislovodsk. Construction at a cost of $99 million could begin in 2011. Capacity of the plant, which will produce both heating and electricity, will be 13 MW.
